Jim Chapman Construction Group (JCCG), a leader in the build-to-rent and general contracting industry, recently appointed Robert O’Neil as its new director of preconstruction – vertical. Bringing more than 10 years of industry experience to the role, O’Neil works closely with Terence Lang, vice president of purchasing and design.
“O’Neil’s significant responsibilities highlight his crucial role in guiding project development from inception to fruition, ensuring seamless alignment with our company’s rigorous standards and strategic objectives,” said Jim Chapman, president of JCCG.
As the new director of preconstruction – vertical at JCCG, O’Neil is responsible for preparing bids for all vertical construction items, communicating with trade partners regarding sourcing in different regions throughout the Southeast, value engineering projects to best accommodate the project owner budgets, overseeing schedules, maintaining quality standards and working with project managers to best manage future trade selections and community specifications.
Before joining JCCG, O’Neil held leadership roles with several notable home builders, including director of purchasing at Southwyck Homes, director of purchasing at EMC Homes and the gatherings national purchasing manager at Beazer Homes. During his career, O’Neil has overseen the construction of more than 2,000 single-family homes and over 1.5 million square feet of commercial condominiums nationwide.
O’Neil has already worked on several JCCG projects, including Richmond Hills and Cottages at New Hampstead in Savannah, Georgia; Friendship Trails in Hoschton, Georgia; Fellowship High Ground in Milledgeville, Georgia; South Pint Townhomes in South Fulton, Georgia; and Clearwater Lakes in Aiken, South Carolina.

O’Neil has a degree in business administration and managerial economics from Georgia State University.
